Most people are doing Ardha Chandra Chapasana (Half Moon with foot grab) WRONG!

In my opinion, most people in yoga classes are not actually doing Half Moon correctly. It looks like a simple pose, but in reality it is very technical. Very often, even yoga instructors do not fully understand this posture, so the instructions given are limited and lack clear anatomical and energetic explanation. As a result, many students practice Half Moon without really knowing why they are doing it, or what the pose is meant to develop.

In this video, inspired by my students, I go deep into Half Moon (Ardha Chandrasana), especially the variation Ardha Chandra Chapasana (Half Moon with foot grab). I explain the key alignment, the purpose of the pose, and how it connects balance, strength, mobility, and awareness in the body.

This is also not to be confused with the so-called “Candy Cane” pose. In my view, this is not a traditional yoga posture, and it often creates more confusion than clarity around what Ardha Chandrasana and Chapasana are actually meant to be.

This is the power of my Special Weekly Yoga class. I encourage students to practice consistently, not just to “do the pose,” but to truly understand it—so they can improve both physical and mental health. Very often, my students also inspire me to keep refining how I teach, and that is what continues to fulfill my own yogic journey.

I also want to include a YouTube video that explains the pose. Click HERE for the video.
