Fallen Angel is one of those poses that catches the eye—and challenges the body. A beautiful fusion of strength, balance, and grace, it requires core stability, shoulder strength, open hips, and a calm, focused mind. But like many advanced poses in yoga, it’s not about achieving the perfect shape—it’s about the journey.

In my classes, I guide students through the building blocks of Fallen Angel with a detailed breakdown and clear instructions designed for all levels, from beginners working on foundational strength to seasoned practitioners refining their transitions.

We start by exploring the key elements:

  • Crow Pose (Bakasana) to build arm and core strength

  • Side Crow (Parsva Bakasana) to understand twisting and shifting weight

  • Twists and hip openers to create space and mobility

  • Core engagement techniques to support balance and control

Once students feel grounded in these preparatory poses, we move mindfully into Fallen Angel—learning how to hover the hips, rotate the torso, and extend the legs with fluidity and breath.

Along the way, I offer modifications, alignment cues, and mindful hands-on or verbal adjustments to ensure each student feels safe and empowered. What often begins as uncertainty transforms into strength and expression. Watching students go from hesitant steps to confidently lifting into Fallen Angel is a reminder that yoga is about progress, not perfection.

What Fallen Angel Teaches Us

More than just a striking arm balance, Fallen Angel teaches:

  • 🌿 Balance – both physically and emotionally

  • 🔥 Focus – in each breath, each shift

  • 💪 Patience and strength – it takes time, and it’s worth it

  • 💫 Playfulness – it reminds us that falling is part of learning
